History of Hwa Rang Kwan

Hwa Rang Kwan began in May 1965 in San Francisco, when Rev. Chung Ryul Song gave the name " Hwa Rang Kwan" to a Korean youth group in San Francisco. At the same time, the young Master Dong Kie Shin opened a Hwa Rang Kwan dojang in the Miahdong District of Seoul, Korea.

Much simlar to Grandmaster D.K. Shin real life experiences, he taught and participated with the U.S. Army/ Special forces, Korean Tiger Division, and Vietnames during the Vietnam War.

Master Isidro is recognized locally for his achievements and was awarded in November 11, 2006 - State of California Senate certificate of recognition for outstanding and dedicated service to the Ambrose Recreation and Park District as the Instructor of Tae Kwon Do, presented by Senator Tom Torlakson 7th Senate District.
Master Jose Isidro currently teaches to children, adults, and seniors. He believes in hard work, honesty, self discipline, self respect, family values, and passing wisdom/knowledge of his experience to his children and students. He has 5 children who are all Black Belt and assistant instructors to his Dojang, who shared his belief as well. Master Isidro emphasize in the Martial Arts of Tae Kwon Do rather than Sports. Very strong belief of self defense and being a Black Belt does not mean that you are capable of defending yourself on the street without proper experience teaching and training.
'' You would not want a car mechanic to fix your house plumbing. This is the same in Martial Arts, anyone can become a
Black Belt. Without experience and instinct, Master Isidro belief is you are not qualified.''

Master Jose Isidro currently teaches on Cane self defense (Cane Do) for Seniors for the Town of Danville, Ca and Ambrose Park in Baypoint, Ca.  Member of CaneMaster since 2004.

2 bricks standing verticle side by side with no spacer. Master Jose Isidro broke in half. This call for concentration and control. If he hit the bricks to hard. It would fly across without breaking in half. Note: knee position, more difficult in breaking and concentrating upper body. (Pic 2008)
